Open Mic Stand-Up Comedy

Steven Scaffardi, stand-up comedy, comedy, funny, comedian, open mic comedy, London open mic comedy, author of The DroughtSteven Scaffardi started stand-up comedy in January 2011, working his way around the London open mic scene. He finished the year on a high as he was voted runner-up in the Golden Jester comedy competition in just his 50th gig. Over 150 comedians entered the competition so it was a great achievement for Steve to make the top three after just 12 months on the circuit.

After that appearance, Great Comedy Nights promoter Alan Sellers said: "Steve always delivers, despite the fact that he is a relatively new addition to the comedy circuit. With great stage presence and excellent varied material, he would appeal to virtually any type of audience."

Steven Scaffardi, stand-up comedy, comedy, funny, comedian, open mic comedy, London open mic comedy, author of The Drought At the start of 2012, Steve made it through to the semi-final of the Next Big Thing talent contest at the London Excel, and has been busy writing the follow-up to his 2011 debut novel The Drought. Steve's brand of comedy combines witty observation with self-deprecating humour; incorporating tales of relationships, feeling old in his 30s, and encountering difficult situations on public transport!

This style of comedy shines through in his writing, and The Drought has been receiving excellent reader reviews on Amazon. Below is a video clip from Steve's October 2011 gig at Dirty Dicks bar in London, performing the material that got him a runners-up spot in the Golden Jester.

Steve stopped performing regularly at the end of 2011, but throughout his time on the stand-up comedy circuit, Steve kept a diary of all of his gigs - the good jokes, the bad gigs, and the ugly sets that sometimes didn't always go according to plan!
